What is new with InfoOnCall?
(a) InfoOnCall can communicate with external program to swap parameters
back and forth. For example, you can write a program to fetch
temperature readings from a device and send the result to InfoOnCall.
(b) A TTS(Text to Speech) function translates a text file into a voice
file playable by the Dialogic boards.
(c) Voice recognition function is now available for the Dialogic
boards. When the input choices are few, like less than seven, keypad
input is recommended because it is fast and accurate. If the input
choices are many, voice recognition is a better choice. For example, if
the input choice consists of the names of the states in US, voice
recognition is the more practical choice.
Microsoft Speech Engine is required for the voice recognition and TTS
functions.
(d) WAV files are allowed to play or record messages. The default
Dialogic file format used in InfoOnCall is the ADPCM format with a 4
bit per sample and 6 Khz sampling rate.

For business applications, what hardware do you recommend?
The Dialogic boards have excellent voice quality and product
reliability. Dialogic is an Intel subsidiary, a leader in dedicated
voice and/or fax boards with digital signal processors on board.
Dialogic boards offer the following advantages :
- It has extensive call progress monitoring. For example, in the
case of voice broadcasting applications, Dialogic InfoOnCall can
execute different instructions according to whether the line is
answered by a live person, answering machines,operator prompt, line
busy, or just no answer. So, a Dialogic board can be used for the
'supervised' phone transfer mode, like transfer toa voice mail box if
the extension line is busy or has no answer.
- It can interface with many proprietary PBXes, whose line tones
may or may not be the same as the public phone line.
